Basic Rider Course – This course is for everyone, whether you want to learn to ride, have limited riding experience, or are a seasoned rider and just want to brush up on your skills. If you are under 18 years of age, you must have a learner’s permit or driver’s license to take the course.

Successfully completing this course gives you confidence and improved riding skills, and you are eligible for licensing test waivers with DPS, possible discounts from many insurance companies and local motorcycle dealerships, and possible ticket dismissal.

You'll spend approximately five hours in the classroom preparing you for about ten hours of practical riding in a controlled, off-street environment.

In the classroom, you will learn about different types of motorcycles, their controls, and how to operate a motorcycle safely. We emphasize the special skills and mental attitude necessary for street survival and enjoyable motorcycling.

We discuss what to wear for comfort and protection and how alcohol and other drugs affect your ability to ride safely. A very important segment of the course demonstrates how to create a strategy for riding in traffic, and dealing with critical situations.

The riding activities start off with straight line riding, turning, shifting and stopping. You will gradually progress to advanced cornering, swerving and braking. The course concludes with a knowledge test and skill evaluation on the motorcycle.

Experienced Rider Course – This course is for those who already have their motorcycle license.

Even if you've been riding for some time, there's always something new to learn. Increasing numbers of seasoned riders are flocking to the five-hour Experienced Rider Course to hone their skills and fine-tune the mental skills needed for survival in traffic. Using your own motorcycle, you will practice techniques of managing traction, stopping quickly, cornering, and swerving.

You'll discuss with your peers how to balance the mental and physical aspects of safe riding, manage risk, increase visibility and optimize your lane position. The Experienced Rider Course also covers protective gear, rider responsibility, motorcycle inspection and care, and the effects of alcohol and other drugs on riding.

Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic – We are pleased to announce that we are offering classes in the Austin, Houston, and Dallas areas. You can read about this course on our Total Control page under Courses on the navigation bar, and at www.totalcontroltraining.net. Hopefully this is just what you need to keep you upright and safe when enjoying the sport that so many of us love.

Ticket Dismissal – If you need to have a ticket dismissed and have been approved to take a motorcycle safety course, you can take either the Basic or Experienced course for possible ticket dismissal. We are approved nationally by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and statewide by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
