We all have friends that can ride motorcycles really great………in a straight line. But most riders, if asked, would say that they need to improve their cornering skills. After you have taken the MSF’s Basic Rider Course and the Experienced Rider Course, what is the next step in courses available for improving your skills? Usually it is a track day. A lot of people don’t feel comfortable putting their bike on a track or there isn’t one close enough to attend. Well now there’s another choice. Moto Fun motorcycle safety school is proud to be the sponsor of Lee Parks’ Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic. This course is about improving your cornering skills as well as helping you understand how what you do affects how your bike handles. The course discusses the 6 keys to cornering which includes: traction management, mental state, throttle control, visual acuity, line selection, and body position. There is also a complete section on suspension, how it works and how to adjust yours to make your bike work best. You will end up knowing more about that subject than most riders and mechanics. REQUIREMENTS - All students must provide their own motorcycle or scooter and have at least one year of riding experience. Motorcycle or scooter should be in proper working order, including cooling and charging systems, and a battery that is in good condition. Absolutely no race tires or race compound tires allowed regardless if they are DOT approved. For students with less than two years of experience, it is advised (though not required) that they have completed an MSF ERC.
THE FOLLOWING PROTECTIVE GEAR IS REQUIRED FOR ALL STUDENTS:
- DOT-approved helmet (full-face recommended)
- Motorcycle jacket
- Riding Pants (Jeans are not allowed, but Kevlar jeans or chaps are allowed.)
- Gloves (fingerless gloves are not allowed)
- Boots that cover the ankles.
- Valid driver license
- Proof of insurance
